  4. Call me a pedant but let's get this sorted once and for all. A phobia is a deep seated, irrational CLINICAL condition that drives and fuels certain behaviours. If someone disagrees with same sex relationships , that in no way automatically suggests a phobia. It is merely an expression of dislike. That is perfectly acceptable in a mature, intelligent society. If a person was genuinely homophobic they would be literally be in terror of gay people and therefore unable to have any sort of interaction with them.

You said yourself "extreme irrational FEAR or dislike" Now correct me if I'm wrong ( i'm sure you will) but I have NEVER seen anyone have a panic attack or similarly extreme reaction to being close to or speaking with a gay person. It just does not happen. Ergo, homo PHOBIA is a misnomer. If you want to argue semantics , i'll do it all day. The world is drowning in ignorance and fantasy and it needs to stop.

I think you and others like you need to remember the term Homophobic/phobia was coined as a pejorative not a diagnosis. The overwhelming number of individuals who are called homophobes are NOT medically unable to cope with gay people, they simply do not accept the practice and are vilified as a result. It's become , ironically, the same easy insult as calling a gay person a puff or similar.
