  1. Didn't you watch that video? All of that is pointless fluff. All that matters is productivity. If they aren't a functional unit in the economy, then they have no value. At least, that's what the video seemed to be saying.

  5. So the people who got the money led more happy lives rather than worrying about making ends meet? How terrible. If only quality of life had as much value as "capital worth." After all, at the end of the day, when they put you in the ground, what matters more, that you enjoyed your life, or that you ended with a lot of money in the bank? The point is that we're going to need a plan once human labor no longer has any value, and humans can no longer be weighed based on productivity.

  10. I think a UBI needs to be paired with strong insurance mechanisms. Most people are terrible at budgeting and saving for a rainy day, so don't expect them to. Pay them an amount per month that is basically what they should expect to spend that month, but than also have money available in case they hit an unexpected snag and need a bit more.
