  2. What did him being VP have to do with anything? A President can't declassify documents either without going through the proper security channels.

  3. It's not really that big a problem. Apparently minorly classified documents end up in the wrong place all the time. These were not nuclear secrets or anything. There was only a big deal made in the case of the Trump documents because 1. There were a LOT of them, way more than could reasonably be explained as an accident, 2. they were reportedly much higher security information, like defense documents, and 3. he had been repeatedly asked for them, and on multiple occasions refused to hand them over, and/or signed an affidavit that he had turned all of them over, and yet still had them. THAT was the actual crime involved in that particular case. If Trump had only had a few documents, and they were mostly harmless, and he'd turned them over immediately when requested, then that would have been the end of the story.

We don't know the full circumstances of how they ended up in his offices, Biden himself might not even have been involved in putting them there, we'll see what the investigation turns up. Keep in mind, if Biden didn't want to be transparent about this, then none of us ever would have heard about it. They could have just hid or destroyed the documents and nobody would ever have known, because the archives were not looking for them. This is only a story because Biden did the right thing and turned the documents in, unlike Donald Trump.

  6. Funny thing, most "former Democrats" are just Republicans who want to be taken seriously, and know that "current Republican" never can be. I can't put an ounce of faith in anyone claiming to be a "former Democrat" in 2022, that's like saying you were a "former Republican" in 1864.

  11.  @eziokill9112  The documents were found, but were turned into authorities. That was the end of it, from the Biden team's perspective. It's only coming out now because now is when reporters found out that it had happened. How could they have reported on it before becoming aware of it?

  15. When they have a reasonable suspicion that there are documents he hadn't turned over yet. I mean, just to present a slightly related case, it took them months after Trump lied to them repeatedly about having classified documents and they had a source saying otherwise before they conducted a raid on his property and found that he had lied to them and mishandled classified documents.
