It'll be interesting to see the studies comparing the people it didn't work on to the ones it did, and figuring out what's different there. Presumably they have some different causes to their weight, and learning how they differ could help to find solutions for those, and maybe further help others.

I've heard a lot of "just as good as bacon," but making something that looks vaguely like a bacon strip is the least part of the process.

It's almost like. . . the way they were already doing it. . . was the right way to do it.There's no point to processing chocolate in Ghana if they do not have the infrastructure to do so efficiently, they should just push to get a fair wage for the farmers and leave it at that. If they want to build factories, build them around products that they can efficiently produce.

@ninatrabona4629 The drive behind plastics had little to do with workers. It was mainly about finding a use for oil production byproducts so that less of the process was considered pure "waste."

@improvisedsurvival5967 It's responsible for a lot of poullution and other harms to your standard of living. There are upsides, of course, but that doesn't mean people should not be critical of the downsides too.

@johngray3449 There are other sources of sulfur if we need it. Even if we did need oil to produce sulfur, we could extract that resource without pumping any dangerous chemicals into the air or water supply. Again, the overall argument is against using oil in the ways that we have, burning it into the atmosphere. This does not mean that we would need to abandon ALL uses of oil, IF there are environmentally sound ways of processing it.
