This is core libertarianism. "Government should stay our of our way, unless we want them to do something for us."

@galazore That's the theory, but in practice it more often means "leave me alone and I'm going to do something harmful to you, and the government better not try to stop me. Do as you wish, so long as I'm ok with what you do, otherwise you'd better stop it."

Nobody is "induced" to take debt. Having a higher credit limit doesn't force anyone to spend more than they have. Just pay off your credit card at the end of the month, and you're fine.

Well, these baristas could just open their own coffee shops and pocket all the profits.

This is why unionization is an outdated way of doing things, and what we instead need is a strong federal government to require ALL companies to meet fair standards of conduct, whether unionized or not.
3
@bobbafett1849 That's why Citizens United needs to be repealed. Unions won't fix anything so long as Citizens United remains in play.
2
@darlalove No, I want a NON corrupt government to be in charge of fair standards, which is why that is what I vote for. Who would you prefer to be in charge, corrupt businesses or corrupt unions?

@ianhomerpura8937 Unionizing government employees is only important when people keep electing Republicans into positions of power. The simple solution to that is to stop electing Republicans into positions of power.

@dsmkrotj4990 Better than "less government oversight" does, at least. Government oversight is what allows unions to exist at all.

@dsmkrotj4990 Like I said, government isn't perfect, but it's still the best hope we've got. The corporations are even worse.

Yeah, it would have been helpful if they'd actually broken down the numbers on a place like that. Instead of "a cup of coffee is sold for X," add in "and it costs Y amount in raw materials, and the prime location costs Z amount per month in rent," etc., breaking down exactly how much money should be left over at the end of the day, after all necessary costs are factored out.

@bvbxiong5791 Because it's smoother to handle bets using simple, easy to read tokens than using stacks of random paper money?

I do strongly believe in building modern urban areas in the underdeveloped parts of the country, but this is definitely not the way to do it. You can't abuse regulations to get what you want, or try to bully people into selling, you offer them a generous amount, and accept their answer either way, and move on. Using tactics like this make them the bad guys.

$144 a week? That's nuts! They should be making at least twice that!
1
@AK-47ISTHEWAY Oh, that's pretty good then. Nearly $3K a month? Cool work, if you can get it.
