My dad set my mom up with something like that, and when she would take the laptop on trips she would be like "did you transfer everything over?"

Yeah, I'd like to fully electrify, but currently we use an oil boiler, we have no "ducts" or any place to put them, so the only option we can think of would be to put ductless HVACs at multiple locations outside the house, and that seems like a lot of work. Even with reasonable splits we would probably need at least two full outdoor units, one on either side of the house.

I used to use the Subs feed exclusively, but for many years now mostly use the front page. That said, I do ignore 80% of what shows up on it and pick and choose the stuff I want to see. I could never stand just hitting autoplay and rolling with it. Tiktok is an abomination.

I feel like metal shops and that sort of thing should have outlets with hinged plastic/rubber outlet covers, so that empty outlets are fully protected, and in-use outlets would have a little "umbrella" over them that would prevent any sort of debris getting into them. It might not be 100% foolproof, but it would certainly be hard to fool.

I remember my launch PS1. I used some of that clay-like poster sticky material to jam up the button so that I could open and close it at will. Very simple compared to a PS2 "latch trigger card". Are you going to do a video on those?

Why couldn't they make a detergent pack where one of the "lobes" of it is made with a very weakly melting material, while the other two are made with a much sturdier material that would take about 20 minutes of hot water to melt? Then the one pack could last the entire process.

With all the effort you've put into making white bulbs blue, have you considered making blue bulbs "less blue?" I mean, for every method of getting a quality blue tint onto a white bulb, there has to be that many and many more for taking those overly bright blue LED bulbs and tinting them to pull back those tones, dimming them a bit, warming them a bit, making them "look nicer." There are far more "makes things slightly dingier" materials to work with than there are "make things extremely vibrant colors" materials.

@jasonriddell So I take it you're saying that you think an electric boiler would be enough to heat my house? Maybe. I guess I'll look more into it. From what I'd heard, they just had trouble reaching the consistent water heat level needed to do radiant heating.

As an artist, "orange, but darker" is still orange. Brown is "warm colors, with less saturation," warm colors diluted with other tones to diminish its color "purity." It's worth noting that to generate "natural" shadows in an image, you want to avoid just making an orange "darker," but instead making it "darker, and also more red." This tends to look better.

Star Trek was on every platform. It's one of the only Beta tapes I own.

I remember having both one of those antique style "indoor" lamps, and a more modern camping lantern that we used to use if the power went out, but for the last decade or so we've had much more effective LED lanterns.

@PanduPoluan True enough.

My basement freezer had an issue yesterday where ice had built up on it to the point that it blocked the door, which I think led to much more ice building, because the top shelf was just a solid ice block filled with food. I defrosted it with a hair dryer, but we did lose at least some of the food to being too exposed to the open air.

I will never understand why baked goods were used as a unit of force. It's like measuring air travel speeds in units of "Unladen Swallows."

In the late 90s I remember having these electric typewriters for sale at a store I worked at. Don't recall one ever actually moving though.

NGSA: "And so I took this personally."

I was thinking, "why don't they just make stickers?" And then they made stickers!

I had a beta as a kid, but only well after the battle was lost, and we just got it as some yardsale find or something (probably around 1990 or so?) and only watched a few random movies on it (the only one I remember is Star Trek TMP). Our primary recorders well before and after were VHS.

Look up his other video about his previous cars and their state when he sold them off. Most EV owners I've heard from moved on to a new car way before their batteries were at any serious risk. You need about ten years of really hard use, or 2-3 times that of casual use, for it to be a concern. You save way more on gas and maintenance costs in between, even if you choose to replace the battery rather than replace the car along the way.

This seems like the perfect place for some sort of Etsy store. It wouldn't be that hard to just buy up a ton of lights, a ton of nail polish, and set up a production line for painting them. Did you actually try dipping the caps into the polish? I don't see why that wouldn't work, and if you were doing a production line, you could just string up the lights and then go along the whole row dipping each one and then allowing it to dry. I expect you could produce these pretty fast once you really got going, and if you could find a wholesale source for materials then you could probably sell them at barely above normal retail pricing.

I think the "electric car" generation is going to get skipped, at least for single owner use. I think that before the majority of drivers switch from gas to electric, the culture will shift from "owning a car" to "borrowing a car." Self-driving cars and lyft-type services will make it so that instead of taking on the hassles of car ownership, there will just be fleets of self driving cars in the area, and you just call one up to take you from A to B, then it goes on its business. You'd pay more per trip, but a lot less in terms of maintenance, and there's no point just having a car sitting there most of the day and night when you only need it for an hour or so per day, if that.
