i'm fairly sure those are the ukranian pockets left alone by the russian during advance to severodonetsk. back then they just felt it's not worth the time because severodonetsk is a bigger target and they cant afford the delay so they decided to just go around it. if you draw it on the map, it will looked as if those pockets encircled. but are they? well yes and no, the russian troops, other than those at severodonetsk, are rather dispersed. so they may not do a complete encirclement for those smaller pockets. doesn't mean they cant launch offensive, it's just that since those pockets arent priority they may not have any plans to attack, mostly just making sure those pockets arent making a move towards the supply lines or to attack the force at severodonetsk from behind. weakened pockets, or any pockets that the ukr occupiers have retreated from, the russian may move in to take over.
