  1. Soleimani was the IRGC Commander. The IRGC would provide weapons, training and funding for the various groups around the region(mostly Shia, but not always) they would also pay the Shia Afghans to basically be cannon fodder for Bashar Al Assad's forces in Syria. Everything else that Peter has mentioned is factually accurate.
