  1. These Dems are really losing it. My God. We have to pay more than $174,000 per year for a senator; we should be attracting only the best and brightest. Double all salaries of our Federally elected officials officials please, there are only 537 of them in total

  2. That's why it's so important to attract the best and brightest. A school superintendent in New York state can make more than the President of the United States. A cop in Long Island or Schenectady can gross more than a United States senator. Thus relatively few very qualified people want to run for office.
