Remember when schools were shut down? The only difference is he reopened schools in Aug 2020 for the 2020-2021 school year and gave up his emergency powers similar to Gov Abbott in Texas. Gov Newsom in CA kept the state shut down for 2 years and only gave up his emergency powers in Feb 2023! The per capita death rate for Florida and California were nearly the same. This is why DeSantis's popularity surged. He did not kill his own state. Add to that Florida dodged a huge bullet by not electing Andrew Gillum, a drug addicted promsicuous gay man that was arrested months ago.
