Conservatives have killed more Americans than Al Qaeda.

@ciararodriguez8027 I mean America was literally formed through violent action. Violence is not inherently evil its how it is used. Sure one could say its rude to hurt someone like Kaitlin Bennet though one could also say Bennet is perpetuating transphobic beliefs that contribute to everyday violence against trans people who already struggle enough to simply be accepted.

@ciararodriguez8027 appeasement has never solved anything pacifism is encouraged by the government to make you more docile and easier to control

Personally I believe fully automatics should be legalized but I think in order for that to happen socioeconomic conditions of capitalism must be addressed. The NRA is awful and groups like the SRA should be supported instead.

If you support guns and are a leftist you can support groups like the SRA. An unarmed leftist is an unprepared leftist.

@kindnepenthe You do realize making private sales illegal doesn't stop private sales? My state has specific laws on FFL regulations and it does nothing to stop people buying guns from just snapchat. Also the link you provided only extends to older guns and 80 percent lowers. None of these contribute to mass shootings or even suicides. The issue is socioeconomic conditions.

Capitalism and the state is poopoo

Anthony Navarro That sounds like fascism. Also you arent a capitalist unless you control the means of production otherwise you are part of the working class and advocating for a capitalist centered society is not in your interest.

Anthony Navarro I work in technology. One of the first things I was taught was that technology is a reflection of humans and because humans are imperfect our own imperfections are projected through technology. If anything we should absolutely pursue a system where voting is for everyone and not just some privilege. As we have it now its a bourgeois dictatorship. The one with the most wealth can sway the most influence and support towards them. Capitalists control the media with the wealth they stole from the working class and distort the truths to benefit themselves.

Anthony Navarro History shows that democracy is extremely important. As a socialist I want democratic decision in the workplace. Everytime democracy has been shown to fail its because the marginalized have had their rights to vote in some way infringed upon as happens inherently in how capitalism rewards an elite few to control the fates of the rest of us without our consent. A technocracy relies on the idea that expertise in technology means those should be the ones to run things but that is inherently authoritarian and reflects a planned economy that ultimately ignores the needs and rights of the people. Youre assuming that qualified means flawless.

Anthony Navarro Everything you say is contradicted by history. The data even shows that worker run cooperatives are more productive and stable. If you think democracy is bad and we should be controlled by an elite youre an authoritarian projecting your own view on how the world has to be. You think people like Elon Musk are qualified? The guy is anti unions and uses child labor in cobalt mines. Individuals rely on the efforts of the people not the other way around.
1
Anthony Navarro If you believe only qualified people should decide things who are you to suggest anything? What field is your expertise or even what field of expertise would qualify for running the world on what standards and who would define those standards? This is Utopian at best and fascist at worst.
1
Anthony Navarro Go read some Murray Bookchin or look into how every system that relies on autocracy eventually devolves into a nepotistic mess. Capitalism is inherently contradictory and unstable as well. You can put as many smart people in charge as you want but the system of extraction only benefits the ones at the top slowly at the expense of the working class. Tell me who goes on strike the billionaire or the worker?
1
Anthony Navarro If you believe the scientists and engineeers are the qualified ones then let them democratically control the workplace. The reason we dont see cooperatives more frequently is literally because capitalists rely on the violence and aid of the state to exist and gain an edge in competition. These things have already been put into practice by the Zapatistas, syndicalist Catalonians, and Makhnovian Ukrainians. The fact these systems existed is direct proof against the idea its only a utopian pipe dream. You on the other hand have no actual framework for this magical technocracy of yours and no respect for democratic decision which is inherently tyrannical. This is literally similar to what Pinochet did in Chile and how he brought over the Chicago Boys to run the economy and the country is still recovering from that disaster because it turns out undemocratic capitalist societies are horrible.
1
Anthony Navarro How old even are you? Youve completely deflected my question on what would define qualification in your society and what your qualifications are for supporting such a society? What solutions do you have to the fact 71 percent of carbon emissions are from the top 100 companies and that 11 corporations control everything you consume? How does this serve to overhaul the over policing of neighborhoods and systemic poverty and racism within capitalism? Socialism has shown it has the solution and means to solve these problems. There is no point in upholding a hierarchical system and then going further to remove democratic decision. Thats the pipe dreams of an edgy teenager.
1
Anthony Navarro Who do you think are the ones who are least informed and misguided? What standards do you place for that? What about the fact the poor have the worst access to education and the means to better themselves. Your system just makes all the problems we see in our current system even worse by giving more power to the richer educated elites to run the world while the masses have no control over their own fate. This is a pure dystopia you propose and you should actually rethink yourself as an individual instead of lashing out at me for critiquing your views.
