We have multiple independent confirmations that they did.

We have independent confirmation that the Apollo landings are real, and the only people who claim it was faked never come up with evidence that stands up to examination.

@shammusomalley8986 That 'list' is full of nonsense. That press conference is nr. 16 in a series of events, the astronauts had been talking nonstop for 14 days and were tired by then. That's all there is to it. The 'were you able to see stars' is an example of journalists not having enough patience. During their mission, the astronauts went through a wide variety of circumstances that made the stars visible or not. - standing on the surface of the moon: they were in full sunlight. No stars visible. - during the Earth-Moon transfer: they were in full sunlight. No stars visible. - orbiting the moon: during the shadowed part of their orbit, they were able to see more stars than they'd ever seen from Earth. During the sunlit part of their orbit, they were in full sunlight. No stars visible. The van Allen belts were a non-event to the astronauts. This was entirely taken care of by the people who designed the trajectory. No reason for the astronauts to know such minutiae. As usual, these arguments fall apart on examination.

@shammusomalley8986 No, that's not correct. They remembered just fine. Read Collins' biography, for instance. They weren't given enough time to give a full answer to the question.
