For it to be useful, you need to cruise at 10km altitude. Not many UAVs can do that.

Spirit and Opportunity functioned for 10 years without needing a wiper.

@stevef.8708 A brush attachment that can be proven to not be a risk for damaging the solar panel is going to cost a hell of a lot more than $3. And Spirit, Opportunity ran for ~10 years without needing one.

@ekij133 I'll repeat the main point: Spirit and Opportunity never needed them. The panels were cleaned by dust devils often enough.

NASA has a Canberra with cameras in the nose that's been used for reentry observation.

Anything. $90M a year is a lot more than Hubble operations cost, for instance, for far less science (800 hours vs 8760 hours of observation, and far fewer papers)

Experience with Spirit and Opportunity showed this wasn't necessary: their solar panels were cleaned regularly by dust devils.
1
Spirit and Opportunity ran for years without any of that.

Spirit and Opportunity functioned for 10 years without needing a wiper. NASA doesn't want to resurrect SOFIA: the astronomy community has been trying to kill it for years because its science return is low.

The ISS is not a good environment for a space telescope. 1. Far too much vibration from the astronauts moving around. 2. Far too much structure blocking your sight.

You mean 'destroy the environment and flight safety'.

Because it's another failure point, it poses a risk to the solar panels (dragging something across a fragile panel will damage it), and previous missions never needed it: Spirit and Opportunity ran for years.

Yes, it should be possible. An amateur astronomer took this video about 5 days after launch: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9PM_ywxQ8OQ
