  2. He wasn't 'shunned by his peers for going against the narrative'. He posed an incomplete hypothesis: he said redshift wasn't caused by expansion of the universe, but failed to offer an alternate explanation for redshift. And the data he used to support his hypothesis was so noisy that there have been a bunch of studies alternating between yes/no on his claimed observation of quantized redshift. I.e. despite astronomers not accepting his hypothesis people are still looking at his studies and trying to confirm or disprove it. That's science at work.
