I think the economy has gotten to such a point that Alphabet has decided that if they want to remain profitable they must try and compete with alternatives or eventually go under. They looked at what X did and realized it has gained market share and even attained reasonable returns by being more free speech oriented. Now there are still algorithm shadow manipulations but that may go away with time. After all if a content creator generates massive consumption appeal that is literal revenue. Losing Joe Rogan and a few others to competitors has woke(teehee) then up to financial reality.
