  1. One thing that rarely said about the Konfrontasi was a bitterness on Soekarno part. When he was still a revolutionary, he made a bff deal with Tunku Abdul Rahman that when Indonesia and peninsular Malaya achieve independence, they would join the two countries into Malindo with Soekarno as president and Tunku Abdul Rahman as prime minister. Lo and behold, Britain granted Malaya their independence, and there was no mention about Malindo from Tunku Abdul Rahman. Soekarne felt slighted. That's how it all began.
