  6. African nations on average gained their independence during the the height of socialism as a major ideology. Therefore, most if not all of African leaders are (were) socialists. And as socialism demand government control of means of productions, they designed the laws to accomplish that, regardless the result (which didn't apparent at the time).

  7. The thing about state's law and federal's law is wrong. The civil war only solved the rights to secede after union. But the basic rule is still the same: the federal laws can only be applied if the state's law agree with it. After all, it's united STATES of America, not UNION of America. Meaning states come before federal. That's why there are those things like electoral votes and the ability of some states to declare marijuana (and same sex marriage) as legal before federal law declare it legal. And as in other rule, there is some loophole for this, like if two third of states already declare it legal, the federal law has to follow suit and the last one third have to declare it legal too, whether they want it or not. In fact, the fear of that eventuality was the trigger of states secession prior to civil war. Just my two cents.

  8. No, it's not their geography. And no, it's not colonization. It's a matter of timing. African nations gained their independence at the time when socialism was vogue. As such, all of them adopt socialism. And of course, with the predictable results. Have African nations gained their independence at 19th century (when socialism were at infancy) or 21th century (when socialism have largely collapsed), African nations will be much better. Socialism is the bane to civilization.

  12. And about the federal law enforcement does not crack down marijuana consumers in the states who legalizing it, it's not because they are not worth their while. I mean, are you kidding? It's in the gene of human (and any institution the establish) to hunger for more power. There is no such thing as "not worth their while" when it come to power grabbing. The reason why the federal does not go to the "legal marijuana states" is because the law enforcement of those states will send the federal people out of those state if they insist. There's the rule again, state's law derogate federal's law. That is, except in occasions where there are two third of other states who support said federal law.

  14. Putin maybe crazy, but he's not stupid. He already knew for long time that a war between NATO and Russia will only end with his downfall. Putin won't initiate any war with a NATO member for that very reason. If there will be war between NATO and Russia, it will be started by one of NATO member (either USA or France). Also, Baltic states were a special case because Bush the Elder managed to secure their independence from Soviet Union after negotiation with Gorbachev. Their stated reason was that the Baltic States were independent countries before the end of Great War (therefore ignored Ukrainian independence, which happened after the Great War, and in turn earned Bush Sr. the nickname of "Chicken Kiev").
