For Indonesia, we didn't have public pension system until about 10 years ago. So we jump straight into "private" system. See the double quote? The pension system is currently handled by a monopoly of government owned company who is supposed to invest the money in whatever investment any other insurance usually invest. But the government part and monopoly part caused us anxiety, given that our government are well known for their corruption, and whoever in power like to dip their beaks into government owned companies, especially the ones who managed large amounts of money. And with monopoly, we do not have allowable alternatives.
