@Iron-influence-geo It's not their GDP, but their resources that are siphoned to France at pittance compensation.

"There are no eternal allies, and no perpetual enemies, only perpetual interest," - Henry of Palmerstone

@timwardin8326 They can, with much higher price.

@adrien5834 France inflation today is nothing compared to inflation that they will suffer if they lost their CFA Franc. Wagner maybe small, but they have emboldened three countries to drop CFA Franc in short order.

@markotoshich7676 "Imagine independence fighters in 1776 or Americans 1812 hearing/thinking/knkwinf England will be US ally. " That's not example of "no perpetual interest". That's example of "no perpetual enemy". "Or French and English in 1942 that Germany will be their ally. " Same. "No perpetual enemy". What Palmerston stated was the perpetual interest of England to protect their homeland. And from that, come the policy of "preventing anyone to reign supreme in mainland Europe". Whenever a European power seems to be on the verge of become top dog (Frederick, Napoleon, Hitler, Stalin, ...), they will support the opponents. That's how England seemed so easily to change their alliance. Because to them, there are no perpetual ally nor perpetual enemy, only perpetual interest.

@Teutathis Indeed they can, and it will invite the Streisand Effect on their clutch over their former African colonies.

@blackblack1167 They are either never watch other channels or simply simps. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

@DerDoMeN Because Russia has nuclear weapon? And Macron bravado can lead to nuclear exchange? Heck, even Germany chancellor is rejecting Macron's proposal.
2
Right? As if we do not watch other channels that currently discussing the stab wound suffered by France in Africa.

@Teutathis France saving grace is currently people prefer to talk about USA and what they did/do all over the world. But if France push it too far, people will notice. And once people notice, they will find warts and boils. It maybe safe to do it every once in a while. But two or three in short succession? That's push it too far.

@adrien5834 What a shallow mind.

@fongangamassana6034 Exactly. And some shallow minded people (e.g. @adrien5834) just swallow whatever they hear without looking for other sources and judge the merit of what they hear/see.

There's another reason that France seeing red, that is Russian infiltration into France former colonies in Africa. French economy is largely dependent on the continuation of the use of CFA Franc in former French colonies. It can be viewed as a mini version of USD. Recently, Russia is able to displace several France supported governments there, and with it, the discontinuing usage of CFA Franc in those countries. It made Macron hissing, "My preciousssss..."

Poutine is delicious. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

@Beremote Why do you take politician statement at face value? Russia threat to Estonia can be neutralized with the same recipe as neutralizing USSR threat to West Germany, a statement from USA envoy that if USSR dared to move their army through Fulda Gap, USA was ready to use nuclear weapons without warning. A similar message will shrink Putin's ball. There is no danger to Estonia (a NATO member, which make Putin extremely reluctant to invade). But French Africa problem is real and happening. And Macron has to use the only weapon he has right now, the threat of NATO deployment inside Ukraine.
