  1. Republican don't want Texas to secede as much as Democrats don't want California to secede. Those secessions will subtract large chunk of their electoral votes. 😅 It's similar (but different, but still similar) reason of why Puerto Rico is in limbo, and US didn't annex the entire Mexico at the end of US-Mexico war. There was (and is) a party that will see the electoral vote balance is disrupted unfavorably.
