  2.  @Loroths  Formal Indonesian language can be very different with informal Indonesian language, which has some ethnic words and slang mixed in. So it will be confusing for foreigner. But you are right, if she's already overstay for several years, she should already understood the informal words, because it's used everyday. Indonesian only use the formal language in ... wait for it .... formal setting, like when they are reporting news.

  4. Exactly that. I'm from Indonesia, and I can tell you that with a budget of just $1,000 a month (that's $12,000 a year for mathematically challenged people), you can live like royalty here. It's a good place for retirement, if only US social security doesn't require Americans to be on American soil for at least once every years.

How much it's supposedly cost in your country? btw, $300 can pay his meal for entire month if he doesn't have to pay rent for his shop, utilities, and employees. Wage pay in Indonesia is still counted per day, not per hour. $15 an hour in the US vs $10 a day in Indonesia.
