@chesshooligan1282 SSDs are less reliable in my experience. This is why I have three HDDs in my PC for backing up the SSD and other files. When an SSD fails, it fails big time. I've had no end of problems with SSDs. Never had an HDD failure.

The SSD is great in terms of speed. I have one as my C: drive in my PC, but I regularly back up everything of value. I don't trust them for reliability. I've had too many failures.

@bricefleckenstein9666 I've had many SSDs fail and I've only been using them for maybe 10 years. Never had an HDD fail in 30 years.

I've never upgraded to get a better motherboard, and that's back as far the mid-1990s. It was always to get a faster CPU. A motherboard upgrade was often a necessity enforced by chip venders. Yeah, newer motherboards often provided better features, but that was never a motivation to upgrade.
