I am angry at how pathetic our education system has been at teaching the events that shaped Europe, and that includes Ukraine of course (for context, I'm referring to the NZ education system). And then that failure is followed up by an equally pathetic mainstream media. Until the invasion last year, I thought Ukraine was just a trouble making province of Russia. I had no idea it was a sovereign country. These misconceptions were pretty widespread. It was commonly believed that Ukraine was responsible for shooting down MH17. None of us have the time to research everything ourselves. We have to rely on the media and the education system, but they have failed miserably.
