  1. It's not really so much about trust as it is about obtaining military support, and that's going to be subject to the politics of the day. And that's not limited to dealing with the US. Germany, for instance, is another case. If the US Congress were to lose a couple of the Republicans, then military aid would no doubt restart. Bottom line, the log-jam is really down to one man's political games.

  2. I feel this commentary misrepresents the overall situation. It shouldn't be all about the US. Europe got caught with its pants down big time. Too many NATO countries slackened off (as said by Trump). I'm not a Trump supporter but he was spot on with his criticism of the European laggards. There are dozens of countries supposedly supporting Ukraine...what the hell are they allow doing right now? If Ukraine runs out of ammunition, we should be blaming the whole of the free world, or at least those who've done little.
