  1. Australia hasn't changed it's approach. Ever since vaccines looked likely 18 months ago, the policy was to protect life through lockdowns, border closures and other measures. This was to buy time until vaccines become available. Once vaccinations were under way, the emphasis would move toward opening in a staged way based on vaccination levels... 70% and 80%. We're now at 90%. This approach was again made clear in more detail during the vaccine rollout. What we're seeing now is the natural progression of those existing policies. There has been no abrupt change. It's been pretty well handled since the get go.

  2. In answer to your question on Australia, yes, you have got it wrong. There's no radical change in policy. The plan annoinced mid year was to vaccinate then open up. That's what we're doing.

  3. The national plan was to vaccinate then open up in stages depending on vaccination levels. That's what we're doing. It's the only sensible way forward and it's far from being right wing. Right wing was to go open slather without any restrictions or vaccines and not give a damn. I live in Melbourne, the most locked down city in the world where the plan is supported by one if the most left leaning governments in Australia.
