Why do people make these kinds of comments? It's not intuitive to most people. It wasn't intuitive to me. The whole point of these videos is teaching. It's even in the title. It's a tutorial. It's not about boosting egos. If one doesn't do full workings, then one doesn't learn. I hate it when steps are missed. I'm just left hanging.

@Robodog69 It's not about what it had to be. It's about demonstrating ways of solving stuff. I am so tired of people chiming is as the resident expert. Every comment section has people with large egos trying to better the teacher. It might be pre algebra, but I studied a maths major and couldn't do it.

Do you want a medal?

@Nikioko "immediately indentify"? I doubt it.

@Robodog69 No way is that grade 5 work. No way. My son recently finished high school. Didn't do anything like this until grade 11. When I was at high school 45 years ago, it was grade 10 but only for the advanced group. Anything to do with polynomials was grade 10/11 pre calculus work. We didn't touch algebra until grade 9. I was age 15 in that year.

How did you get from line 3 to line 4?

@johnpaullogan1365 Why should they easily recognize that? Who says they should? The quadratic formula is easier because it's one thing to remember, rather than a whole bunch of rules where mistakes can be easily made. I can never remember any of the quadratic factoring rules.

It is only quicker if you know the rule. I didn't. I'd prefer the quadratic formula, but I'd forgotten it. I always get the a, b, and c mixed up.

No one cares.

@lychief I couldn't solve it algebraically and gave up. And I have a Bachelors degree in mathematics. Problem is, I've forgotten 99% of it.
