  8. The so called "attack on the capital" is obviously not a non-event but it was blown out of proportion by the lfar-left who conveniently downplayed the BLM riots which were far worse in every way that matters.

  9.  @oldtimer7635  The two sides are Democrat vs Republican and Trumpism. There might be one fundamental issue at hand but it's being perceived in two entirly different ways by the two "sides".

  10. When most people talk about democracy (or being democratic), they just mean a system whereby representation is in some fundamental way based on a broad based voting system and not too much about the details.

  11.  @frankpickle545  Ok, doing so after the courts made their decisions is silly but at the end if the day, the court decisions held and the transfer of power took place. It was all bluster. So again, I don't see a problem. I would also add that the Democrats spent 4 years doing effectively the same thing in trying to dump Trump, including their two unjustifiable impeachments.

  18. I agree with your sentiment regarding Sam but no, Australia is far from a fascist state. Federal election this year and it could go either way. That's a healthy democracy. I live in Melbourne and I like it. The state government is a little too far left on social issues but right now the conservative opposition look incompetent on other issues. Neither are fascist.

  23. Of course they understand the U.S. is a republic. Even I do and I'm not even American. But you should understand that the term "democratic" has multiple meanings. Every time someone mentions "democracy" in the American context, someone else does what you did. There are numerous instances already in this comment section. The term can describe a political system i.e. the Australian politicsl system is a 'Democracy' (noun) or the discriptive definition referring to any system of government by the people (voting rights).
