This has to be one of the best and clearest descriptions of the situation in Ukraine that I've heard.

A lot depends on Americans dumping trump.

Yes, the idea of a peace deal is nonsensical. Russia started the war and wants it to continue. Only Russia can choose to end the war. Ukraine's only real option is to keep fighting. I've always felt this way, but your extra point that Russia considers the four Ukrainian oblasts to be Russian territory makes a peace deal even less likely.
23
Actually, this did age well.
19
Yeah, what Trump said was insulting and ignorant at a minimum. He's clueless.
16
@mitchyoung93 Yeah, because they would be crushed by pootin if they made a noise.
10
My experience with YT comments is the same.
7
I'm informed and it sounds spot on, but nice try at trolling
5
Russia just keeps on making stupid decisions. Obviously, invading Ukraine was the dumbest of all. Completely pointless unprovoked stupidity. But Russia is destroying it's own chance of a bright future in the medium term for no good reason.
4
What he said was correct. It's unfortunate. It would be nice if the russians would go home... but your point is?
3
I'm not 100% sure of what you mean, but... there is no legitimisation of Russia's occupation. It was an illegal invasion of a soveriegn state, plain and simple.
3
If Putin had wanted peace, he wouldn't have troops in Ukraine.
3
India is a major disappointment in all of this.
3
He's talking about Russia. Pay attention.
3
I believe Putin wants to restore the empire but that's never going to happen and it's getting less likely by the hour.
3
That's true, but it depends on the context.
3
India buying russian oil isn't helping. Same issue with Europe buying russian gas. Billions going into putins funds.
3
Don't be so damn stupid. A stronger ruzzia is bad for all of us. Im sure there were people like you in the 1940s who said let's not fight Germany. If you can't see that then I pity you. As for funding... how much have you spent?
2
I subscribed to a bunch of Russian Youtubers before the war because I was intrigued with their culture. They're all good open-minded people. They all left Russia in 2022.
2
Russia needs to realise that respect is earned.
2
So, Trump doesn't understand the war? Who would have thought.
2
I don't consider Mearsheimer to be a credible commentator. Never liked him. He reminds me a little of Chomsky. Another commentator I tend to ignore. They both seem to have an anti West agenda.
2
Of course. It's over to leaders to decide.
2
Latest I heard is that one of the swing states is unimpressed with Trump. He only has to lose one swing state (if I'm not mistaken) and he's history. As for gas prices, this is about russian domestic refining. It's hardly likely to affect US pump prices in my opinion. Russia already had shortages last year which didn't do much to American gas prices. OPEC will likely set pricing independently of Russia. The irony is that if gas prices do rise, I'd blame Trump, but he'd spin some BS to cover it.
2
And....
2
Russia is clearly unhinged.
2
I like that. Spot on.
2
One thing, though... the damage caused, and the cost of reconstruction is immense when a city is involved. Open fields not so much. One would think that keeping the ruzzians away from cities would be of the highest priority.
2
There is no "crisis" for ruZZia. It started the completely poinless war against a country that wasn't even an enemy. It could end the war as easily.
2
Yeah, I still believe attacking Ukraine from the north is more likely than attacking Poland.
2
I remember it differently to the way you're describing the evolution of the 'red line'. I'm quite sure I'd heard it from ruzzian officials early on that any attack on ruzzian territory would cross the line. And there was a lot of 'noise' around nuclear weapons at the same time. I also remember many commentators asking about attacks on the occupied territories after the sham elections... would they be considered crossing the red line etc.
2
Nice try but no cigar.
2
What are you babbling about? I thought he was very informative. He is not a reporter. He is providing an overview based on his own expertise. Perhaps you should read the video title?
2
Putin needs a psychiatrist.
2
You lead the way then... And who is ranting? You are in a YouTube comment section. Hypocrisy much.
2
@traumvonhaiti It's a paper tiger that is awakening (assuming no Trump). And it may well be drawn into the fight if ruZZia makes significant advances. A ruZZian win would be totally unacceptable, even to the "paper tiger".
2
And ruZZia is the enemy of the free world, and it's an enemy for no good reason orher than Putin's distorted world view and paranoia. Let's face it... NATO was never going to invade ruZZia. NATO is a defence pact. The key word there being "defence".
2
China won't. China only cares about China.
1
@Anor999 Not nonsense. It's all about human psychology.
1
Do you like clowns?
1
At the current rate it is working somewhat, but what's the alternative? What would Ukraine need to let's say... take Crimea?
1
Stop talking about yourself 😂
1
The whole of Europe had better be ramping up weapons production already.
1
One aspect of it turned out differently but most of the detail was and still is valid.
1
The Russian figures are an absolute joke and shouldn't even be repeated because the trolls love it. There are reports of crematoria in the south burning dead soldiers because there are too many to bring back to Russia, and when you see videos of war zones as Ukraines take back territory, there are dead Russians laying everywhere. I doubt many of them have been counted by Russia? Of course none of the numbers can be known with certainly. But there were reportedly 50k killed on the Russian side in the fight for Bakhmut alone.
1
@wisenber That's bs. We saw Vance (an asshole in my opinion) bullying a president who is defending his country against the Russian fascists (America's #1 long term enemy), having to defend himself against the continuing barrage of lies and insults directed at him by a supposed ally. America has lost the plot.
1
Most countries define summer to be from the June solstice until the September equinox. Some June 1 through August 31. Never heard of a country defining summer as starting early May? In Australia where I live, it's the reverse. We have winter defined officially as June 1 to August 31. I guess Ukraine's climate is a bit oddball?
1
Yes, Russia is exactly like a giant cult where their leaders feed them bullshit daily and ban independent reporting. Little wonder the populace is crazy.
1
Not really.
1
I have heard nothing I would describe as peace negotiations. Just Trump blathering nonsense.
1
Who is "You"? Putin, right? Hope you're not a troll. Putin cleatly caused all of this... land grabs and puppet states is how Russia rolls. Evil and fascist.
1
@Welsh_Veteran_420_Z Rubbish. There is no evidence of Russia winning. They occupy less territory now than they did 8 months ago and they've suffered greater losses for their efforts. It's Wagner that saved Russia from a complete colapse. You're more likely a pro Russia troll. LOL
1
Russia is the biggest terrorist state on the planet right now... I'm pretty sure Russia did it. Perhaps you're the muppet doing backflips?
1
An old senile fool like Trump? And no, no one could have ended the war 2 years ago.
1
Not necessarily. Article 5 is not an automatic override. Leaders will still be making decisions and they can decide whatever. NATO might do nothing much.
1
I agree with you that those countries mentioned are not in a strict alliance, but they don't have to be. I'll still refer to them as an axis of evil because that's what they are with respect to the free world. They support each other in undermining freedom and democracy, as we're seeing in Ukraine and Israel.
1
The US is not NATO. It's one and/or the other depending on the context.
1
Depends on how much assistance they get from the west and from NATO. The western alliances could kick Russia's arse real quick if they wanted to escalate.
1
I would dissagree a little. I believe the risk to Israel is potentially as high as it is for Ukraine. They're both western allied democracies fighting against the same "axis of evil". Iran could play a bigger role in the Israeli conflict, but Iran is part of the same gang of thug dictatorships. The hate fuelled Arabs and Islamist zealots want to eliminate Israel and the Jewish identity. Russia wants to destroy Ukraine and the Ukrainian identity. I don't believe Russia stands a chance against NATO. Thing is, it's not just about Europe... it's global.
1
Not really.
1
Russia has no more right to a buffer zone than any other state. I'm pretty sure Ukraine would like a buffer zone.
1
@baronvonlimbourgh1716 Their brains have absorbed so much bs over their lifetimes that it makes them look like idiots. Doesn't mean they are idiots though.
1
If the Europeans.... "if" is doing most of the heavy lifting there
