Depends on which "Crimeans" you're referring to. The illegal immigrants (ruzzians) or Ukranians or.... ? At the end of the day, it doesn't matter. You don't chop countries up into little peices at the whim of a few load locals.

@paulfelkner6749 My native language is English, but I don't expect England to "liberate" me. A whole bunch of Canadians speak French.... etc. As no doubt you're aware, this whole "they speak X language there Y" argument is ruzzian propaganda.

@EconLessons Just for fun, it could be interesting to speculate on the true market value of the ruble. On one hand we've got an internal panic forex happening (200 to USD), whilst on the international forex, the ruble is being propped up at 88. I'm guessing the true value might be somewhere in the middle, well past the 100 to USD.

Not really. There is no way the West will let Ukraine fall. No way. You're assuming the West's slow response was by choice. No. The West got caught with its pants down. They believed the times of big wars were over. Putin had different plans. The West has now learned its lesson. NATO is larger and stronger, but a large ship can't turn on a dime, but it's turning, and it will easily outpace ruzzia in the medium term. Why? Because realistically, ruzzia is a minnow economically by world standards whilst it is sanctioned.

Let's hope he doesn't win. The last thing anyone needs is for the most powerful man in the world to be crazy Trump, a man who appears to hate Ukraine and America's allies, and a convicted criminal to boot.
