@Willywin Like Spain, Portugal, Switzerland, and Sweden, the Irish Free State was neutral in WWII. Do not confuse neutrality of siding with one side or another. Bear in mind that Ireland had just been through a bloody civil war just like Spain. Neither country could risk reopening domestic hostilities. Try to be less jingoistic and show some appreciation of history.

@LazerBenabba-w9o You do not see the Israelis crossing the Lebanese border because the Irish are there. The lack of fighting is a sign of UNIFIL efficacy.

@Willywin I'm a retired history teacher. None of my students ever got an F except one lazy lump who refused my help. I failed to reach him but I do hope things worked out for him. He might be writing comments on YouTube.

@Willywin Questioning??? The lad was a lazy boy who failed my class and the class of the English teacher. He lacked all academic inquiry. He was the only student who failed to graduate that year. He needed a boot up the backside but this was no allowed. He had the ability but lacked the interest and his teachers were unable to inspire him.

@dstarie I heard something of the kind. The Irish always had a strong attachment to America and remember, ther Americans were, like the Irish, neutral in WWII until they were attacked in 1941.

The Irish are not Dutch. If the Israelis want to fight with real soldiers instead of children the Irish will accommodate them.
