@ElAteoMexicano Being a martyr in the olden days meant you died for the faith. It is broadened nowadays and includes those whose lives were lost in a struggle with the Israelis so that even the thousands of babies who were bombed by the IDF before they could even have a faith were also martyrs. martyr 2. : a person who sacrifices something of great value and especially life itself for the sake of principle. a martyr to the cause of freedom (Merriam-Webster)

It is understandable that many Americans are lost for something they can do to stop their country's complicity in genocide where children are dying from starvation while their president enjoys an ice cream cone. The USA is an obscene country and most Americans have made it so because it is a type of democracy, limited in scope but led by elected politicians. There is nothing more to be said.
