Everyone knew NATO/OTAN was principally an American anti-Soviet organization and when the Soviet Union disbanded and gave up on Marxism-Leninism the logical thing to do for peace was to end NATO/OTAN just as the Warsaw Pact ended. Instead, the Americans continued to keep a massive army of occupation in the new unified Germany and morphed NATO/OTAN into an anti-Russian organization. It was always an American run outfit and would stay in Europe to strangle Russia even though the former Marxist country was flirting with capitalism, allowing a handful of individuals to purchase the people's gas and oil enterprises at bargain basement prices to allow a pittance of American dollars to help their plummeting economy already in debt to western banks in New York and London. Russia even banned the Communist Party but this did not impress the Americans who wanted Russia to crash and be splintered into several vassal states. Vladimir Putin set Russia on a road to recovery by trading with European countries, principally Germany and he managed to turn the tide. Putin did not embrace Communism but NATO/OTAN countries maintained their threat from the west. Now that the Americans are seeing sense and looking like they might bring home their troops from occupied Germany, the French and English are at their wits end. They are wishing to keep NATO/OTAN but we are all in no doubt that it is an anti-Russian organization, not an anti-Communist one. It is an array of countries in Europe hostile to the Russians. No good will come of this.
