  2. The Reichskriegsflagge at 3:01 is incorrect as the swastika should be at a 45° angle. Also thin black stripes are missing as well as a black circle around the swastika. These movies never get things right. The English commentator would have done better to catch this rather than yap away about Winston Churchill. The commentator remarks on the uniform of the 𐌔𐌔-Hauptsturmführer but fails to mention his missing epaulettes. This is such an obvious mistake that it is puzzling how it could have happened. The other German officers have epaulettes so why did the wardrobe department get this wrong? This officer is also missing the political eagle on his left sleeve. Altogether, an empty uniform without any decorations on his way toward promotion in rank. Missing also is his left cuffband which would indicate his regimental division. The side arm cases worn by 𐌔𐌔 officers was black leather. The one in this movie is wearing a brown one. Furthermore, the 𐌔𐌔 has wide feldgrau (field grey) collars to distinguish them from the green collars worn by the Wehrmacht. Of course, in this movie the 𐌔𐌔 officer has an army green collar. It would have been better had the commentator not mentioned the uniform at all as he clearly did not know what he was talking about. ... I cannot believe the English expert historian made no effort to pronounce Das Boot as it is pronounced by the Germans as sounding like Das Boat not as an article of footwear. Is he really an historian with a love of WWII, I wonder. ... At 24:34 the expert tells us that the destruction of a city is loosely based on the Warsaw Uprising and the General is supposed to be based on the man responsible for this in real life, Joachim Peiper. I'm afraid although 𐌔𐌔-Obersturmbannführer Joachim Peiper was nowhere near Poland during the uprising of the city as he was engaged on the western front having been relieved of his command in the Soviet Union when his leadership decisions led to serious loss of life of his own men. The commentator must be mixing up Joachim Peiper with the real commander of the 𐌔𐌔 during the Warsaw Uprising, 𐌔𐌔-Obergruppenführer Erich Julius Eberhard von dem Bach-Zelewski.
