  1. Argentina is on life support. Those extra police are in for a busy time. It is surprising to see the BBVA as the first bank in the list of the MERVAL (51:59) as I had my account with this bank when I lived in Euskadi (Basque Country). It is shown here as BBVA Banco Francés S.A. In fact this bank changed its name to simply BBVA in March 2019 to reflect its parent company which is based in Bilbao, Vizcaya, Spain. The initials BBVA stand for Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria, Spain's second-largest bank after Banco Santander. In 1991, the Spanish socialist government of Felipe González created the public bank Argentaria, grouping in it the Spanish public banks. The Banco Bilbao Vizcaya (BBV) and Argentaria announced their merger project on 19 October 1999 and the then large bank of BBVA was born.
