I'm glad I wasn't the ref in this one, I would have stopped it in the fifth. Great job by Chris Young.
75
He's 22 years old and taken two bad losses in the last 10 and a half months (the one against Venado was absolutely SAVAGE), over 30 rounds. Poor kid needs a break. Retool, get stronger for the weight and comeback against some lesser opposition.
72
Roy was the first fighter on DVD. Everyone else was a VHS. Roy was a DVD.
72
That was a fantastic shot! How nice is that! Gets called in as a late replacement to fight Kenshiro last year and fifteen months later, he's world champion! Well played Olascuaga!
69
Yeah. Indongo, Rosario, maybe we look back and say Kambosos someday. Hell, J-Rock too.
68
Former flyweight champion moves up and beats one of the biggest welterweights anyone has ever seen (two of them actually, with Clottey).
68
Crawford literally gets an A in EVERYTHING. It doesn't matter the style of fight, he is exceptional at it.
68
He's going to beat Valdez again. Would love to see Albert Bell get his shot at some point though.
67
Legit Fight of the Year contender imo. I thought Kenshiro was about to lose and he got what he needed! THAT WAS AWESOME! Best wishes to Akui!
65
I didn't think that fight was that close at all. Astrolabio just followed him around looking for a big shot, usually an uppercut, and it never came.
63
Clearly Pena did something to piss off the referee before the fight, he let him sit there and take all of that! That was brutal!
62
I should have gone to bed but I stayed up to watch this fight and I'm glad I did. That was awesome!
62
Why even bother ref?? His father was an offensive machine who fell apart against punchers but I'm definitely wishing Jr all the best.
60
The jab that man had. Love watching Ike Quartey. Think he MIGHT get in the HOF someday.
59
Think Makhmudov is headed for gatekeeper duty. He looked really bad. I am not surprised that Vianello took him he gave him a good fight back in the WSB.
59
Rice threw like 7-8 hard punches the entire fight and thankfully this one landed for him. Also thankful that, despite not having a rule in place, they used some good common sense to see that it was a legal shot that caused the cut.
58
I heard they had Mike Perry going as a back up in case one of them didn't make it to the fight - I hope Perry's training because I still wouldn't be surprised if this one doesn't actually come off.
58
With the late, great Bouie Fisher. Top Rank has, by far, the deepest vault in the sport.
57
Wish Ruiz and a bunch of those PBC guys were a bit more active. Ruiz has been off over a year and was a year and a half off before that and he's 32, with nothing scheduled. It's a waste. Always great to hear Larry Merchant as well and I can hear Jim Lampley in the background.
56
He gets A LITTLE too happy with it sometimes, but Nakatani has one of the finest uppercuts that I have seen.
56
He looked absolutely excellent and when you consider the fact that he's like 7-8 years away from his full physical prime! This kid has the potential to be something truly special.
53
Former flyweight champion dominates two of the biggest welterweights anyone has ever seen in Clottey and Margarito.
52
Nothing like him before him and nothing like him since. Roy, at his absolute best, was one of the most perfectly constructed fighters there has ever been.
52
This was that vicious Shane that used to absolutely savage lightweights back in the day.
51
Quietly been one of the best fighters of this era.
49
Knockout of the year. All done. That's a wrap. Unbelievable.
48
He won't beat Lomachenko. He's too mechanical, slow and predictable, but I thoroughly enjoy watching Commey fight and have for years. He's had an excellent career and has, arguably, been Ghana's best fighter for a few years now. I expect him to give a fine effort.
48
You're not supposed to be able to have the success that he's had fighting the way he does. I think Venado's the best featherweight in the world and one of the best unorthodox fighters in years.
47
Kinda feel like a dumb ass now for yelling 'stop the fight' when he got dropped and wobbled up. What a performance!
47
Toney was a damn genius. Just a brilliant boxing mind, one of the greatest defensive fighters the sport has ever seen.
46
Rios took some absolutely brutal punishment in his career. He's been gone a few years and I hope, wherever he is, he's doing okay.
45
Knockout shot set up via headbutt. Torres was the quintessential Colombian brawler. He had legit power and either he knocked you out or you knocked him out and sometimes probably both happened in his fights.
45
I'd watch it again but Tsutsumi clearly won this fight for me. How in the world do they fight twice and get two draws.
44
The most forgotten unified champion in the sport.
44
No controversy that time. Mayer looked GOOD! That was one of the best performances of her entire career, Ryan adjusted and Mayer still took over. Definitely want to see the Lauren Price fight next and if she can win that, I would not be shocked if Taylor - Serrano would be interested. Good fight!
43
Really gotta feel for Hughes; he's a limited, awkward guy but he paid his dues, hit a really good stretch in his career and earned a big fight against the former champion and then THIS happens to him. I hope he considers this a win and marches on as he was before it.
43
What an absolutely fantastic career he had. It's so nice when that prospect comes up and turns out to be every bit of the fighter that their potential suggests they can be because they work their ass off.
43
I was working, so I wasn't pay full attention, but from what I saw, I had Tanaka up. But full credit to Cafu. Watching Nontshinga a couple of days ago, they made the comment that 85% (!) of South Africans fighting away from home lose, so this is a HUGE win.
42
You know how much Floyd appreciated Chicanito. Years later Hernandez got sick and passed and Mayweather paid for his funeral expenses, said he used to have a poster of him on his wall. He was an excellent fighter!
42
He looked really good imo. That first knockdown was a sweet shot and he went a few rounds and closed the show. Patrick Teixeira should be a solid next step for him.
42
@decidingpaper6324 That is EXACTLY how he fights. That is a perfect description.
41
Nakatani might have the best straight left hand in the sport right now. That thing is gorgeous! Santiago probably never even saw the one that knocked him down at all. If he fights and beats Takuma, Naoya - Nakatani is a massive fight next year in my opinion.
40
If Conceicao didn't slap so much and had some kind of an even snappy power, he might be world champion already with the amount of problems that he gave Valdez and Nava.
40
Toney's still my favorite fighter ever. Happy bday.
39
Easily one of the most sickening, ghoulish one punch knockouts you will ever see. Went from being amazed at the punch to being concerned about Berchelt in less than one second.
39
The night when Shaw officially became an opponent. I think it's gatekeeper duty now for the rest of his career.
37
One of the greatest passing of the torch fights you will ever see.
37
That was an excellent performance by Zayas. Sosa isn't a great fighter but he's solid and he's knocked off prospects before and Zayas won every second of every round. He did amazing.
37
Stevenson has that little straight right he drops to the body every once in awhile in combination. That thing is nasty!
37
Montell Griffin beat James Toney and Roy Jones. Can never take that away from him.
