Before the Crawford fight, he went to Russia and beat Troyanovsky who everyone thought would run right through him and did it with one of the nastiest knockouts you'll ever see, then he went to Scotland and absolutely schooled Ricky Burns, beat him better than Crawford did, actually. He had his day, it wasn't very long surely, but Indongo made his mark.

The staple of his offense is an almost Razor Ruddock Smash-like uppercut which he leaps in with, USUALLY, with his other hand down and I keep expecting someone to punish him for it. And he has been caught; Liam Wilson caught him with a hook when he jumped in with a right uppercut and hurt him bad. Many of his punches are very wide and when he doesn't hit anything, he'll lose his balance. You wouldn't teach anyone to fight like that, but it's made him a 3x world champion so more power to him.

No shock at all if he beats either Nava or Valdez at this point; but the guy's been mandatory for like a year or so and then Nava was super champion so he got to have #1 ranking when he moved up for Berinchyk and while he was gone, MYSTERIOUSLY, they allow a fight for an interim title between two fighters who were not the mandatory so Nava loses and comes back and VALDEZ, not Bell is waiting on him. So if Nava wins, this is him taking care of his mando so it's another year (or a year and half if they still allow him to play by super champion rules) that Bell has to wait. Just awful luck he's had since leaving TR.

Between the top 3 contenders, Moloney, Donaire and Rodriguez, Inoue's stopped them all and I think Fulton is headed to featherweight so maybe two belts will be vacant soon. However, Kazuto Ioka fights Joshua Franco in a unification at 115 on NYE. If Ioka wins that fight and decides to move up; Inoue - Ioka is a huge fight, especially in Japan. Maybe he'd stick around for that one.

The biggest fight for her in the weight class she's in or the one below or the one up is a rematch with Yoka Valle. In any case, she was a two weight world champion, once undisputed and beat her two major rivals. In a few years, i think Super Bad joins Finito and Iron Boy as the only fighters to prime at strawweight in the HOF.

What he did to William Guthrie is one of my favorite knockouts ever and even hitting James Toney clean was a big deal at times and he had him in legitimately bad shape for a bit. And I always thought Famoso's knockdown was fine. Floyd, in his brittle hand days, hit him on the forehead and turned away from the fight. I got no problem with the ref giving him a count for that.

Bomba defended against Santiago as his last defense at 108 and then vacated and moved up to fight Olascuaga for his belt. Charunphak would be a good one coming off a title shot, same for Apolinario. Mendoza would be an interesting one as well. Wonder if they'd look at Bomba as an opportunity to get a ko on a former world champion or if they'd deem him still too big of a risk. Some of those guys though would be potentially high risk low reward. Gotta think he's thinking of his easiest way to one more shot at this point. There's A LOT of Filipinos down there now that you list them all out like that!

How can a former middleweight end up, with his belly jiggling, standing directly in front of arguably the hardest punching heavyweight at the time, losing a split decision that he should have won. Previously did the same thing to the best cruiserweight at the time and wore down and nearly stopped a guy who specialized in wearing people down. He was JAMES TONEY. It didn't matter how hard you hit because it wasn't like there was a chance in hell that you could catch him with a clean punch anyway. He was not above critique -- no one is, we're all hilariously flawed -- and if he somehow were I would not love him so much. So I agree that he's been criticized in an exaggerated way, but to the extent that it was true, I couldn't care less. The same way I don't care that Julian Jackson didn't have the greatest chin, or Michael Carbajal had a leaky defense, or Terry Norris' chin wasn't the greatest either and he had a few loose screws, or Jean Pascal seemingly made it his mission to break every single rule in "the book". I loved all of them, but no one like James Toney.

So his explanation for what happened against Peden wasn't that he was playing around, but that he sorta/kinda blacked out when he dropped his hands and allowed Peden to knock him out.... very hard to believe.

But those examples are few and far between and even then, when Gatti really got hit or really landed, he turned right back into Thunder Gatti most times, swinging for the fences.

Maybe he'll stick with it and prove me wrong.

I don't know how willing Oscar and PBC are to work with one another on a fight that isn't a huge money fight and I don't think Munguia - Charlo is that type of a fight, I'm sure it's not, actually. So I don't know how realistic that fight is; he does have options though. If he is actually staying at 168, the obvious choice would be Berlanga since they fight for the same network, but I think Berlanga and Janibek could really use one another. They both need names on their resumes and why not each other? Adrian Broner hasn't made 140lbs in 6 years and he's 34 now. We keep talking about him down there, but I don't know if he can make it anymore.

Off the top of my head, the only fighter he fought that REALLY gets credit is Rosendo Alvarez, and really the only reason (or the biggest reason I should say), that he gets that credit is because he had a draw with Lopez and dropped him and a lot of people thought that he won. And Lopez never went up to fight Gonzalez and Carbajal in his day. When he did go up, either those guys were gone or he just didn't fight them. I think he fought Will Grigsby and the South African and called it a day. Something like that. But if I go by just what I saw, the 'eye test'. You could put them in any order that you want, in terms of non active fighters, it's Chavez, it's Sanchez and it's Ricardo Lopez. I'd put him that high based on what I SAW from him. I think he beats Chiquita Gonzalez and Michael Carbajal in good fights, but we'll never know, obviously. But Lopez doesn't have the resume that guys like... Barrera, Morales, Marquez and Olivares..... so if you want to put them over him, I understand that.

  928.  @kingdomofanimaria  In a perfect world, Roy would have gone to cruiser after Ruiz, but cutting back down to lightheavy after that was just a bad idea and Tarver had that kind of a streaky style that would ALWAYS give him problems anyway. So after that fight, and after the Ruiz fight in general, you stop looking at Roy as a great fighter because he was not anymore. He was decent, but not TOP anymore. Before that? Roy Jones at his best could do stuff that I've never seen anyone else do. Despite fighting at heavier weights, he has a shout at being one of the fastest guys ever and his reactions were just ridiculous, You have a hard time ranking him because a lot of his best years were spent against light heaviest and super middles who were not the greatest guys, but what that man could do in the ring.... I remember talking to my brother once and he said Roy was the first guy on DVD, EVERYONE who fought before him was VHS. Roy was boxing's first HD fighter.

  930.  @decidingpaper6324  Full credit to him and I agree, he deserved better than 11-1. i do remember either before his last fight which was the tune up or probably the Nava fight where he said he promised his daughter he'd be world champion. He kept his promise! He's a legit world champion and not like an IBO or an interim. Good for him. The awful circumstances under which it occurred, like I said, are not his fault; and if his daughter is young enough (and maybe even if she isn't), she probably won't give a damn how he won it.

I remember Omar Figueroa was fighting Broner and Lipinets was on the undercard. Of course, Broner falls out and Lipinets is right there to fill in. Shimo would have seemed the likely choice.

The specific reason why I refer to him as being overrated is because of the reverence so many people seem to have for him as a fighter and you can see comments on this very same video as an example and I've been listening to it my entire life. Then you actually dig into his record and it is so thin. THIS is the highlight of his career by far. When you bring up Mugabi the very first thing someone will say about him is, "oh he gave Hagler hell", but at the end of his career we can now say that his best win was.... Frank Fletcher? Rene Jacquot? If history calls that very good, I think history is stretching it. I'm not saying he was a bum, he most certainly was not, but I fail to see what earned that reverence. I think Mugabi's comparable to someone like Edison Miranda and Miranda's best wins are even better.

Now had he lost to one of THOSE guys, I could see your argument about him carrying around so much baggage from Hagler, but that wasn't the case. He didn't run into trouble until he stepped up again, against Norris and McClellan. You look at that and say he was depleted from Hagler, fine you're entitled to your opinion, but he was still good enough, after Hagler, to do what he was doing BEFORE Hagler. And, again, you're entitled to your opinion, but I cannot see what Mugabi did in his career that would make you think he could have beaten Mike McCallum at any point. No reason to suggest that when his biggest accomplishment in the ring is a loss.

For me this fight showed, what you might expect from someone who throws so many punches, that Zepeda is going to be open for someone who has a mind to counterpunch and is actually good at it. Stevenson is a better fighter, overall, than Farmer and he also won't plant his feet as much as Farmer does and let Zepeda run offense on him. I think he beats Zepeda.

It just so happened that the EU champion at the time was Signani who was literally like 43 years old and that's who he was trying to fight instead of Ammo Williams! Clearly he wanted nothing to do with Williams. Luckily Denny got to Signani first, so Cash had to fight him instead. I have a Jessica Camara appreciation for Denny now.

Some of them, Mendoza, Adams, Singh, are coming off losses, I wouldn't make those fights. And some of them are just too good. Fighting Bohachuk, Conwell, Kelly (I don't think much of Kelly, but he still has high rankings) are eliminators and he isn't fighting eliminators with a WBO #1. Barao also has a #1, he's probably waiting for Tellez, after Crawford vacates. That leaves the rest of them and I would think from those, Lima, Silva and MAYBE Lubko would be the top choices.

Clottey was a reigning world champion, like 31, 32 coming off one of his biggest wins against Judah. Malignaggi goes without saying and even Judah had a decent run, he beat Matthysse, after the Cotto fight. Margarito was certainly in decline and Maravilla on his last legs, but not all of them were past it is my point.
