  7. Macdonald was a progressive for his time and probably the greatest Prime Minister in Canadian history (and certainly the most important). If you are going to leave a snarky, sanctimonious comment you should try to get your facts straight beforehand. Macdonald prepared to extend the vote to all Indigenous Canadians - he was forced to backtrack (politically) to a smaller (but still sizeable) number after the Northwest Rebellion. In any case, it was repealed by Laurier shortly after his death and not reintroduced again until 1960. Macdonald vetoed provincial legislation to ban Chinese immigration in B.C. and his reluctance to bring in a head tax is well documented. The head tax increased more than 500% under Laurier and Chinese immigration was outright banned decades after Macdonald’s death. Macdonald wasn’t “starving” Indigenous Canadians. They were already starving due to the overhunting of the Buffalo, which had nothing to do with Macdonald or the Government of Canada. He then initiated the largest aid program in Canadian history at a time long before the welfare state or social safety net existed and was attacked politically for doing so.

He is lying and spreading misinformation about Canada's oil industry, while being sponsored by the world's largest and least ethical oil company, Saudi Aramco, and literally burning copious amounts of fossil fuels for a living. Meanwhile his home country, Germany, after becoming reliant on unethical, dictator oil, has had to restart its heavily polluting coal plants. I've done my research. Have you done yours?

Hopefully, in three years time, we will have a new federal government that isn't mandating carbon taxes (in which case support for or against carbon taxes becomes very relevant) and 2. There are other ways to undermine and otherwise reduce the impact of the tax such as eliminating the provincial excise tax on fuel.

  51. Don't believe we should be throwing people in jail for small amounts of drugs either (we haven't been doing that for years btw), but there are other very good reasons to keep drugs criminalized - you should watch the video I did on it! :)
