  1. The primary conditions that suppressed these inventions, no longer exist. The speed of communication and ubiquity of general education, makes it highly unlikely that this could happen today. I mean, unless some kook accidentally discovered cold fusion or something and had no idea what it was. Some rusty coffee can in a landfill.

  2. Thats a myth. The library was the largest, most complete collection of knowledge, of the time, but to think it was the only copy, is ridiculous.
