That has to be disinformation. If they're still chasing a B&T, its only because an absolutely out of control ego wont allow them to be wrong. I think that 'theory' was just a first minutes brainstorm that the media latched on to for the sensationalism. However, they allegedly did check sales at a gun shop in Connecticut. With all the other counterinvestigative measures he took and all the things he did right, Id think he sourced the weapon and ammunition locally, rather than travel with it. The gun is small with a tilting barrel and squared or steeply ramped rear, like a G26 or G19. The G26 is prone to cycle failures with a suppressor. He definitely knew how to operate it, either through specific familiarity or general experience. It could be a printed suppressor or even a rifle suppressor and poorly handloaded ammo. I have a big bag of 152gr cast handloads that fail to go into battery about 20% of the time and I have to bump the rear of the slide. They also fail to eject occasionally. As far as all the hero worship, people best hope they don't cross this guy's path, because hes sophisticated, technically proficient and cold blooded as a snake. He wouldn't hesitate to add anyone who rubbed him wrong, to the charges against him. Likely not his first victim and unless they catch him, definitely not his last. He is by no measure a 'good guy'.
