@tshavfengvang7831
No, this war started because of a US backed coup that turned ¼ of the country into undesirables and 2nd class citizens. When they cast votes to opt out, Kiev sent attack helicopters and neonazi deathsquads to count them for 8 years. 2 months before Russia invaded, Kiev massed the largest armor force since Desert Storm, for an invasion of Donbas and began heavy shelling of Marinka and Donetsk. Russia officially recognized DPR/LPR independence and within hours, the US had sanctioned DPR and LPR, thus also recognizing their autonomy. DPR then officially requested military assistance from Russia.
So, you see, it wasn't started by Russia, but you would know that, if you knew Ukraine was even a thing before MSM told you which side you were on.

@kvintersvinterz
Correct. There are consequences to defense decisions. One of the consequences to deploying air defenses over population, is that the target is saved, but something/someone still gets hit. We learned this lesson in Desert Storm, where the PATRIOT had a very impressive interception rate. Just a very poor neutralization rate. In particular, ballistic missiles are hard, because in terminal phase you can completely destroy the airframe, but the warhead just keeps going and the airframe debris hits the target area like a shotgun. So, in many cases, interception caused more damage than failure. But, in most cases, interception just managed to nudge it enough to miss the intended target.

@gooldii1
What atrocities? Oh, you mean Ukrainian army shelling the shit out of Bucha for two days and then boasting about chasing the Russians away running for their lives from Ukrainian artillery? Then, 3 days after reoccupying the city, the clean, intact bodies on the street in front of their shrapnel shredded house, laying on top of rubble and debris next to blown up tanks and their burned, blast mutilated crews? Or, you mean the shell casings littered around the blood pools and drag marks, where the weapon was picked up and the body moved out onto the street? Or, the bound and executed civilians lying on top of rubble and debris, with their hands tied and Russian rations in their pocket(along with dozens of reports around the country, of Ukrainian military shooting collaborators)? Like that? Or, you have some other independently verified evidence? Because thats what the international investigators are finding and thats why you haven't heard about Bucha, for 2 weeks.

30 sec in and already delivering the propaganda. Weirdest war Ive ever seen. The enemy is stupid, demoralized, incompetent, unsophisticated, starving, outnumbered, out of ammo and on the run... which is why we desperately need all of the most advanced weapons you have, fighter planes, more money, more men and control of your satellites.
I guess you gotta stop them from retreating all the way to your Capitol, huh?

@mattseller148
Your estimates are assuming full strength and complete BTGs; which are already assigned arbitrary values. Russian BTGs are valued compositionally, not numerically. Their numerical values range by up to 50%. Russia has probably less than 150k combat personnel deployed in Ukraine at any given time, with a substantially reduced 'tail', due to proximity with their borders. Ukraine claims 800k troops, plus 20k mercenaries. They have demonstrated a ~3.2:1 numerical advantage, suggesting ~500k.
The size of the Iraqi army is irrelevant as they didn't even put up a fight and mass surrendered. They never recoverd from Desert Storm and in Desert Storm, they hadn't recovered from fighting Iran. No air, air defense, armor, artillery or cohesive maneuver units. Unlike Ukraine. No matter which way you cut it, Russia is fighting heavily outnumbered, at a significant disadvantage in a near peer conflict and Ukraine with NATO support at every level but the trigger, is unable to push them back wherever they decide to put up a fight.

Germany defeating a strawman.
The reason its going so badly for Ukraine, is because the entirety of the West has their heads up each other's asses, refusing to admit they made a mistake and misjudged the situation. Now, they're trying to rationalize a Russian defeat, out their imminent victory, by doubling down on the fantasy that they've beaten Putin back and denied him from taking the whole of Ukraine. He never wanted Ukraine That's just idiotic to think he wants to absorb Ukraine, when he wants NATO off his borders 🤦 He just wanted to destroy Ukraine's military, to stop them taking back Donbas. Mission super duper accomplished. Now, Donbas to Crimea is about to be under total Russian control and they'll surge another 10k troops in as an occupation force, line the boundary with artillery and put a tank, IFV and APC, on every corner. Then Ukraine can stamp its feet and cry and beg and say NEVER! from now till Doomsday and it will not move Russia 1 inch.
All of this could've been avoided, if our self-centered, infantile leaders could've just admitted they got it wrong.

Yeah, Europe and North America are not the world, bro. The overwhelming majority of the Human race, is against NATO and its interests; and specifically against US and UK. You don't need to believe them, you just need to be prepared. Because, the rest of the world isnt sitting around anymore, waiting for their special delivery of Freedom from above and precision guided Democracy. Theres a very real chance that we're a generation or less, away from seeing a 'coalition of the willing' to disarm the US. You just think it cant happen, because we haven't fought an industrialized adversary, with an actual military, in 4 generations.
The moment a F16 arrives in Ukraine, China is going to hand Russia a menu and start a tab. China will be very interested in studying and shooting down F16s. Once that door opens, they're not going to limit their engagement, to standing around on the porch. Then, China can run NATO into the ground, just like we did USSR... and make America pay for it. And if we get too uppity, China can show everyone what real sanctions look like.
Provoke China just a little bit more and Taiwan is gone. China will send a txt message and half of Taiwan's defense forces will turn off their equipment and walk away. Then, theyll surround the island in hours and swallow Taiwan like a baby octopus. There will be no aid. There will be no weapons. There will be no Taiwan. And the only thing NATO could do about it, is cry to the UNSC, so the whole world can watch Russia, China, the ME, and half of South America, say 'Womp-womp'
