To be clear, the attack on the bridge had no tactical utility and is meant to provoke Russia into mining the Black Sea. This is for a multitude of reasons, not the least of which being Ukraine's inability to produce or prepare grain for shipment and above all, their first order strategic objective from the very beginning, has been to pull others into the conflict. Mining the Black sea A) provides an excuse for production shortfalls, without admitting losses of territory and production capacity and B) creates an extreme risk for other countries' vessels and hopefully sinks one to generate outrage and possible military involvement.

DPR then officially requested military assistance from Russia. So, you see, it wasn't started by Russia, but you would know that, if you knew Ukraine was even a thing before MSM told you which side you were on.

A close range intercept over the city, indicates the missile was fired across the city when the engagement RADAR was able to see the target over the horizon. This could indicate a gap in coverage on the incoming side of the defense ring; thus, another battery had to fill in with a last moment engagement. This gap could be due to thin/poor deployment, a destroyed/disabled/dysfunctional battery, or depletion of ammo.

In particular, ballistic missiles are hard, because in terminal phase you can completely destroy the airframe, but the warhead just keeps going and the airframe debris hits the target area like a shotgun. So, in many cases, interception caused more damage than failure. But, in most cases, interception just managed to nudge it enough to miss the intended target.

They cleared the most occupied territory with the fewest casualties, had all their infrastructure Intact and positive influx of materiel and ordnance. Since then, every scrap of aid and every battlefield operation has been just a new finger to stick in the dam. Contrary to the narrative, there has been no delay in aid. The 'stalled' aid package they keep talking about, was not due to come online until early summer. They're still receiving the previous aid billet, its just no longer enough to hold back a Russian army thats just hitting second gear. Russia is producing a surplus of ordnance and recruiting at an all-time high, while the West is critically depleting stockpiles and Ukraine is expecting foreign countries to hunt down Ukrainians and return them like runaway slaves.

  584. Its strategic value is a fixing operation. Russia is draining Ukrainian defensive positions to the South, to hold Bakhmut. Meanwhile Russia is preparing for a reinforcement surge into Kherson and Donetsk AOs. As soon as they have their positions reinforced and or think they have gotten everything out of it they can, they'll withdraw and melt away, just like they've done from day one.
