The premise isnt that G/O is rare, its that all the easily accessible deposits have been used up and that what remains is increasingly more difficult and expensive to access. Just like how all the fist sized gold nuggets have been picked up off the surface and now it takes tons of raw ore and worthless rock to produce a gold ring.

I haven't been able to watch programs like that, in 30 years, because where they used to be at least somewhat intriguing, they've since devolved into the most asinine lowest common denominator; premises that are just absurdly false on their face, 'supported' by a gish gallop of blatant strawmen.
