  2. Uh... he illegally armed himself to participate in a riot. He has already given statement to police that he was there to "resolve whatever conflicts were in place". He was acting definitively as a vigilante. You cannot claim self-defense in a death resulting from your own criminal activity. In other words, you can't pick a fight and then kill someone in 'self-defense', because you're losing. Criminals kill criminals, then we lock them away and two criminals are off the streets. Everyone is so institutionalized to a dichotomy that they are abjectly unable to comprehend that.

  4.  @riteousrighthand6144  No, its literally not. He was acting as a vigilante. Vigilantes cannot be tolerated in a civil society. His own use of force expert has testified at pretrial that maintaining possession of the weapon is the sole justification for lethal force; that not for the presence of the weapon, none of Rosenbaum's actions constitute a deadly threat. Possession of the weapon was indisputably illegal and thus his claim of self-defense flows forth from a criminal act. His claim of self-defense is no different than a claim of self-defense in a bad drug deal, or gang fight.
