With over 100 million gun owners(thats not counting the estimated 20 million prohibited possessors) if just 1% decided to make a fight of it, the US military's combat ready forces are already outnumbered and surrounded on every side. And thats not counting the attrition of the military through refusals, defections and sabotage/looting by defectors/deserters. Thats kinda like WHY statists want gun ownership abolished. The AR15 isnt any better at murdering defenseless victims, than any other gun, but it IS better at resisting the authorities, like in the Bundy Ranch episode - remember the Statists calling for drone strikes on them, as 'terrorists'?

  2. +D. Furdan If I must do the legwork to prove you wrong, will you admit to being wrong? Because I think if we are being honest, you know that practically all the top tier Democrats, in favor of 'gun control', have publicly stated an intent to ultimately abolish private gun ownership.

  4. +Janie Hamann That is perhaps the most idiotic argument on the subject, that anyone ever makes. Beside the fact that many of the framers of the Constitution were inventors and in fact gunsmiths, who were well aware of the impact of technological advancement, they were also military veterans, who saw and understood the advancements in small arms, from their own time in service and having seen advancements in arms over the course of the war itself. Furthermore, they did have rifles, unlike the common infantryman, which advanced warfighting tactics, from randomly volley firing at 100' (essentially a flashmob duel), to making an individual decision to target and kill another individual from well beyond the range of any ability to respond - this is the root of the sniper as the archetypal American hero. It wasnt until the machinegun that another comparable advance in warfighting was made. Then there are the contemporary writings of the framers, specifying that Minutemen and potential militiamen be equipped comparably to the common infantryman. Because, you know, like after having just fought a WAR against a superiorly organized and equipped military, they kinda figured that having had better weapons and more of them would just maybe have averted a lot of destruction and bloodshed.

  5. +Asta Wands Restricted, not prohibited. All you need is $$$$$. If you can pass a background check, you are eligible to own a machinegun. There are just a limited number of them, so they're expensive.
