That touches on the root problem with Socialism. It's a beautiful, poetic idea and /should/ be the way the world works. But, its not. Individuals have unique needs and desires; an equal share is not synonymous with a fair share. So, how do you determine what is a fair share? The solution has always been social engineering, to 'normalize' the population's desires and needs, which is why it ALWAYS leads to tyranny and purges; because for it to work, requires a homogeneous population of identical people. As it stands, there are more than enough resources available for everyone on Earth to live in luxury, but harvest and distribution of those resources, is a monumental challenge that Humans may never meet. If we do solve those logistical problems, then Socialism would be obsolete, anyway, because there wont be any need for 'shares'.
