Nihal Singh It is a longshot, to be generous. Technically speaking, it is a valid and strategically sound plan. The real rub here, is that its the same strategy Obama used in his Senate race; getting last minute procedural injunctions to jam up his opponents and have at least one removed from the ballot, until after the election. So, it would be a very interesting ruling and profoundly poetic, if SCOTUS decided, as anticipated, that there exist anomalies that compel an audit, which is no longer possible.

The best case chances for this to succeed, is about 95/5. This requires cooperation and direct consent, of a lot of people at a lot of go/no-go phases. Ultimately, the play is to default the election to the House delegates, who will 95%+ likely go with the original Electoral count, sheerly because of the monumental implications and consequences of defaulting a Presidential election.
