  1. Its an extremely plausible story, if you know anything about computer systems. The incredulity comes from a tragically mistaken perception of the robustness of these systems. After all, how do you think a few lines of malcode can wreck an entire system in the first place? A large percentage of malicious and destructive code, is back engineered or emulated errors. In short, yes this stuff does happen. It happens countless times a day on smaller scale, so much so that its just accepted as commonplace inconvenience; like when the computers are down at the store, or a website is down. Its going to keep happening and its going to get increasingly more devastating when it does.
