  3. My incredulity was largely rhetorical, as is the notion of 'selling' Syria high tech weapons. Russia would just as likely give them the missiles, contingent upon their using them against US aircraft, as a field test. If the missiles work, they have a propaganda coup. If they fail, they can claim they were downgraded export versions. We are gearing up for another proxy war, just to flex some muscle and test our systems against each other. Syria has nothing of value to the West and only minimal value to Russia, in the form of a blue water port. Syria doesnt have the oil resources to be worth it to anyone, its just a pissing contest, over someone elses pile of rubble.
