  2. Everyone was scratching their heads and making up reasons for why Russian units were so officer heavy at the beginning of the invasion. It was the usual rUsSiA sTuPiD cause they just make everyone an officer 🤷 Except, no. Russia doesn't maintain a fully constituted standing army. Only specialists, officers and administration are fulltime. Recruits train through standing units and then cycle directly to reserve. So, what happens, is when they mobilize, they call up mass numbers of basic trained reservists and they all have battle hard officers ready to lead them. The result is they can rapidly inflate their deployment numbers, with at least basic trained troops.
