  2. +gary duarte Too low skilled to run a shovel? Too low intellectual capacity to collect garbage? Because either one of those jobs pays a living wage and theyre always looking for people - Ive dug my share of ditches. There are plenty of programs for people who just dont have the brains to hold a job; and should those people be raising families, anyway? I am skilled. I went to school and worked full time, to acquire my skills. Entry level, for my skillset, is around $15 -$18. I have experience, so I make substantially more, but that is what I would start at, today. I take offense to the notion that someone thinks they rate the same pay, for bussing tables. If you raise minimum wage to within a dollar, or two of my schooled/skilled wage, then I should get a comparable pay raise, to reflect my intellectual and effort investment, in my skillset... not to mention my worth to my employer. So lets just raise everyone's wages... BRILLIANT! Considering that a third of jobs, particularly in service and retail are minimum wage positions, how do you suppose a wage hike will reflect prices? Unless prices are frozen, which is a whole other matter with a whole other set of unpleasant issues, a minimum wage hike will have a net real effect of zero. Thats the best case. The reality is that prices will rise, minimum wagers will gain nothing but higher taxes and skilled workers will have less buying power, with their stagnant wages. Of course thats what the Socialist elitists disseminating this propaganda are shooting for - elevate no one and bring down the bourgeoisie.
