  2.  @davedaddy101  What MacCarthy did was as close as it gets to a modern witch hunt. He went after people on 'information' from others he went after and demanded they prove they weren't Communists. Then he went after the friends and family of insubstantially accused individuals and forced them to denounce the accused, lest they be investigated, as sympathizers. Basically, if you knew someone, who knew someone, who was suspected of Communism, you could expect to be investigated. He was right about the threat and the depth to which it had burrowed into American culture, but his methods were every bit as unAmerican and antithetical to the principles he was defending, as Communism was. One of my favorite relatives is a real deal, 60s Flower Power Commie and while I pull no punches about it with her, Ill be damned if someone is going to come to me and tell me to denounce my family; thats pretty much whats going on right now with outrage politics. So, while he was right in principle, McCarthy's behavior was unacceptable.

Do you understand? Perhaps find a legitimate source? I thought it was so easy to search, but 'Secular Talk' putting words in someone's mouth, is the best you could come up with?
